I have owned well over a hundred vehicles in my lifetime. Only one has been a pickup...and it was a S-10, so it doesn't count. I don't tow an RV ( I do have a motorhome.), I don't have horses, a boat, or ATV' s or heavy equipment. However, I do occasionally have to haul lawn mowers and other larger or dirty things that I don't want to put inside either a SUV or a station wagon (my preferred vehicle.) But I always have had a small utility trailer and a vehicle with a hitch. I use that utility trailer maybe four or five times a year, which is an indication about how many times I might actually use a pickup to haul things. As one other poster stated, if I had to haul something larger than what would fit on my utility trailer, I would rent a larger vehicle. Which is what I did when I needed to tow a car and parts to Indiana from North Carolina. In the meantime, I am driving a vehicle that has a lower center of gravity, handles well, stops well and that gets great gas mileage! And I don't need a step ladder to get into it.
