I drove my 1960 VW Beetle thru several Illinois winters. Never ever got stuck. It would plow thru deep snow like it was related to an Arctic Cat. It had fantastic heater channels and new heat exchangers with a 1776 dual port engine. that thing would dang near set your ankles on fire from the heat coming out of the small vents in the footwell. I purchased a small coleman heater that ran off of a small bottle of propane. I screwed the base right to the passenger floor board.I would go out about 10 minutes before heading off to work and light the fire on that radiant heater. !0 minutes later there wouldnt be any snow or ice on the windows and always had a warm bug to leave the house in. ... I enjoy driving my classic cars and on a nice beautiful sunny Sunday, that cruise will be quite a bit further than the average 120 miles that an ev converted classic would get. EV Conversions dont yet have super charge ca[ability so if you drain the battery, you are looking at an 8 hour recharge before the trip home. I do like that technology always seems to be pushing forward and cars like the Tesla are impressive with their staggering 0 to 60 times. That being said, I have a very strong dislike for EV conversions on classic cars. The EV conversions just dont have the same 0 to 60 times. They dont have the range as I like to drive my vintage cars for many hours on summer/fall weekends, not just 120 miles and then have to plug it in for 8 hours. I absolutely hate what HotRod did to Project X. Yes, I know that Project X has been changed many many times and the last change was a roots style blown LSX and I loved that setup. Something so awesome about an American muscle car that you hear a block away with its big profile cams, excellent flowing heads and tons of fuel being exploded violently within the confines of each piston cylinder. Its that sound that makes you turn and watch in awe as it violently idles by. The sound that hits you in the chest and makes you wish that you are the one behind the steering wheel, with a hand on the shifter, hunting for he weaker muscle car to embarrass. Great list. I agree with almost all of them, minus the Dodge Dakota and the Jaguar. I have owned 5 Jaguars in my life, all of them classics,minus the XK8. Every single one of them came home several times on a motorized stretcher. Biggest disappointment was the XK8. What a magnificent sculptured modern convertible. The ride was awesome, top down in the fall weather, a cruise up the river road, perfect. Except half way thru the rally,it died and we had to call a tow truck. Spring Fling, another great tour up and down the river valley, oh yeah, the XK had to be towed home. A nice Sunday drive out into the country but didnt plan on an extended stay in the country. Yep, had to be towed home. Idling in the driveway on a cold winter morning, developed a knock. 78k pampered miles with proper oil changes and service, didnt matter. Number 4 cylinder rod bearing just gave up and flaked away. never spun the bearing,just lost all of its material surface and left the shell. Thats okay as we dumped that sad moment in life for an older 2001 996 Turbo. Now its smiles per hour or until the local Police catch me having too much fun on country roads. ... View more

Then the C8 arrived, it happened when I saw the prototype mule while visiting the Corvette Museum and instantly fell in love with Corvette all over again. I am a huge fan of all things vintage German but have owned and built several fun BMWs. My current BMW in my stable is a 1986 635csi with 124k miles and is a rust free example from Texas. Sadly its an autotragic car but still a blast to drive, a good touring car. My last one was an E34 station wagon aka Touring that I stuffed a ls2 with a t56 6 speed manual trans, E39 M5 rear diff, racing Dynamic sway bars, coil overs and big brakes. That wagon sure surprised a lot of stoplight wannabe racers. lol. In the past, I have had 2 E36 M3,E39 540i6,E9 3.0csi, 1970 2002 and a disappointing E60 550i.
