Love the insight & perspective. I traded the 2002 I bought new for a new MCS in 2004 due to the lack of precision of everything from the steering & suspension to the ride quality and have been continuously disappointed that Subaru couldn’t ever mange that extra bit of polish & tightening with successive iterations.

I’m not at all in the market, but this is the only V12 Lamborghini I’d consider, and I’m a child of the 70s. As awe-inspiring as the Countach was back in the day, this is the one I would much rather drive - it’s the perfect modern classic Lamborghini to me. I agree with the market on this one.

You’ve left out just how much they were on the cutting edge of engineering back in the day. None other than Porsche licensed their four-cylinder balance technology and their late 80s galants were showcases for technical innovation. Unfortunately, many of their bits of technical wizardry were more complicated than beneficial.

Insightful perspective. In my use case, I always prioritize sporty handling to comfort and only look at cars in this class to fit my 2 nearly 6 foot tall kids in the backseat comfortably. Would you still recommend a Hyundai if handling was more important than comfort and interior quality?

Based on the Yaris reviews I’ve read, I would totally have this over a civic type R, WRX, or golf R. It’s good to see Toyota filling out it’s enthusiast options. The GT 86 for around 30 K, this for around 40 K, and now the supra with a manual for 50 K. Too bad they weren’t in this market a decade ago, but better late than never!

I followed this auction from the beginning and thought $25k, while elevated, would be entirely understandable given both the current market & power of nostalgia for this particular car. The final price is just silly though with this mileage. Understandable if under 30k miles, but no way worth the price for this kid. Crazy well sold imho. 🍺

I’m in agreement with you. This looks like a shameless cash grab. I’d be much more inclined to support it if it was more true to the heritage and benefiting those that sacrificed so much to make the original happen or at least pay a deeper tribute to the heritage. Specifically, seeing Lotus involvement or production in Ireland would make it much more legitimate to me. 🍺

I never looked past the platform/component sharing aspect, so it was extremely enlightening to learn about all the other factors that have to be considered when bringing a new car to market. Definitely more involved than I had realized. 🍺

Excellent article! I spent a couple of years on CVN 71 prior to college and it was definitely an invaluable experience. The only thing I’d like to clarify is that the berthing and dining areas in the pictures are for officers and VIPs. The crew dined and lived in much less extravagant and more cramped quarters. 🍺

I don’t think anyone can realistically expect more from Acura. Small premium cars aren’t big sellers, so of course they would have to leverage more extensively off the civic this time around. And this is just a starting cooking grade model, I’m sure they will be a type S to follow that will be geared more towards driving enthusiast. The original Integra was just the same. There were way more base slushbox Integras sold than Type R’s. If the Type S is a more conservatively styled Civic R, I would definitely call this a win.
