I used moth balls and dryer sheets for years, with a few snap traps and the neighbors cat (he likes to bring my neighbor a "present" every now and then!) and been pretty lucky thru the years. Added Irish Spring to the mixture 2 years ago. I watched a fellow on You Tube this summer experimenting with different rodent repellents and the peppermint oil worked far better than the others. He had a box with a plexi cover and a camera mounted above to film the activity overnight. Placed some sunflower seeds in the box as bait and then placed moth balls one night, Irish Spring another and so on. The only one that the mice stayed away from was the peppermint oil. I have added that to my mix this year. Over inflate the tires (I also park it on scrap rug remnants) non ethanol fill up with Sta-bil and fresh oil change. Disconnect the battery and plug up the exhaust holes. I start it every few weeks but it's usually too crappy out to go for a short drive. But it helps to satisfy the desire a little just to hear it running for a while. And I do keep it covered in the garage with a car cover. ... View more

As a 70+ ex enduro rider this brings back great memories. Broken bones and "arther" has kept me off the bike now for the last 5 years but I enjoyed every ride. It makes me remember my 1st enduro in the late 70's. I was riding off road but this was my first organized event and I was feeling very confident and nervous. It was 100+ miles in the mountains of Pa and everything was going well ...for the first 1/2 hour. The second test section was relentless and looong. I kept pushing all day and probably came within 5 minutes of houring out (thank God for resets!) but finally came into the finish check. The crew stuck a finisher patch in my glove hand and pointed me back to the camp. I think I ached for a week but had a blast and went back many times for more. My first car was a 66" Sprite and my one buddy had a 59 Bugeye. Great fun and fond memories. We did a 1275 conversion on his Bugeye and that was a fun car to drive. I wouldn't limit this to just the Porsche crowd. One of my cars is a 94 Vette conv.. Not much love for the C4 Corvette in the Corvette community but I enjoy driving it. I also go with a friend, who has a nice 59 Bugeye, to British meets . It's not perfect or 100% original but a really nice driver that he did all the work himself. Amazing how many have to stop and point out that this part is wrong or it's too small of a vehicle or it's just a Sprite and so on. I don't particularly want a Model T Ford or a pre war Duesenburg because they don't interest me but I enjoy looking at them at shows and marvel at the work done to keep them running. Hard to beat Hodaka when it came to naming a bike. Back in the day when a buddy was trying to get me off road I went to a local garage thaat happened to be a Hodaka dealer. I was going to get a Combat Wombat but he told me about the Thunder Dog. We were starting to get into enduro riding and that bike looked great to me. I was riding a 238 Kawasaki at the time, which was awful, and told him to get me one. Long story short, he couldn't get one for whatever reason and I ended up riding a Puch 175 for the following year, then went to Husky's. Got to ride some buddies Hodaka's though while trail riding. I would nominate Yamaha's RD 350. A nimble 2 stroke (before they were banned from the street) that handled extremely well and could outrun most bikes with 150 more cc's. I had a 1970 and still regret selling it. Would love to find a Kenny Robert's edition. They were great bikes. ... View more

I have my DVD copies of Le Mans and Grand Prix. Watch them at least once or twice a year while "hibernating"  over the winter. If for nothing else but to watch the vintage race cars in action and reminisce trips to Watkins Glen and Mid Ohio. And the acting is pretty good too! Wish I could find a film about the Can Am series from the 60's and 70's. That would be a good watch as well. ... View more

Amen NordMann! As we used to say back in the day, "Take a chill man!". I don't understand why people take things and celebrity status so personally. There's no money coming out of my pocket personally (and none going in!) and the status of a persons celebrity makes no difference in my life so I take them for what they are...some amusement or distraction from everyday. Period. I grew up enjoying McQueen's work and especially his motorcycle racing career. I also enjoy the F & F movies but think the chase scene in Bullitt is the best.
