A while ago, I was selling an 85 VW Vanagon Westfalia on Craigslist. I got an e-mail from a scammer who offered to buy it with a cashier's check for twice the amount from B of A. He said he would pick it up sight unseen and pay for shipping. I decided to play along and asked when I would get the check and when the camper would be picked up. He said that after I received the check he would make arrangements to get it. 1984-89 nNissan 300zx Z31s still are a value. The 84 50th Anniversary model is the most expensive, but we have an 1987 I bought for my son's graduation in 2013 for $1800 with only 40k on the engine. In #3 shape they're selling for under $10k, but their values are appreciating. Plus, it's fun to drive, especially on a nice day with the T-Tops off. Z31 (1984-89) and Z32 (1990-96) Nissan 300 ZXs should be included on the list for sure. The Z31s are very reliable and fun to drive, but parts are sometimes difficult to find. Our 87 is a great driver. The 3.0 liter is bulletproof. We have had virtually no issues. The 90-96 models offer the same reliability and parts are much easier to find. American cars from the 80s suffered from bad quality control, resulting in poor reliability. These lists, of course, are objective, but there needs to be some criteria when making choices. ...
