Great story Brad, something about Jeeps. I restored a 54 willies C3 for a Mr Larry Ryden of Northern Minnesota in about 1997 ish. He was given from a friend that walked into a dealership and purchased it new for a hunt camp. it had no miles on it and was full of whoops we just side swiped a tree and tore the spare tire off, and wholly cow make sure the safety is on as you just shot a hole in the Jeep! When I was 17 and had a 69 Chevelle all of my buddies ( All Mopar Fanatic's) and all eight to ten years older than myself ran 68 and 69 Chargers all 440's 70 71 and 72 road runners and GTX's. I helped one of my closes friends change his 72 Runner from 400 automatic to 440 four speed. Now this is were things get wild,We purchased a 74 Road runner that was factory four speed original paint, rally wheels ect. tore it apart like we worked in a junk yard, purchased a 70 Imperial with 375 HP 440. found the correct flywheel ( 440's are Balanced externally unlike a 400) sawzall'd the the floor hump out for the shifter and voila 440 4 speed 72 Runner. after a repaint and new strobe strip Mike sold the Runner for $5000.00. I did not get the value of it all at the time. I understand today. Mopar's are cool, especially with the pistol grip 4 speed. Now onto selling my buddy a sure grip 8 and 3/4 391 ratio for his 70 Runner with an air grabber, he almost cried as he told me a Chevy guy was taking advantage of a mopar man! ... View more

PRScott has it right, from the crime side,why put any effort into something that Insurance is going to cover. Most people forget people driving old Honda's etc do not carry full coverage insurance and they are the true victims.If there was no market for stolen materials there would be no crime. It has to be stopped at the larger level than the person doing the cutting. Cops know that most junk yards are full of stolen cars trucks parts etc. But few ever get charged and almost none get convicted of anything. ... View more

Here in Ontario Canada, After cleaning carburetors each spring and fall from the green stuff left behind I realized that it is indeed the ethanol in regular 87 ( up to 10 percent) I call BS on that, started to use only premium fuel. in everything. Now I always add sea foam to anything that has to be stored, Boat motorcycles, lawnmowers weed eaters, chainsaws and on and on. never a problem. Thank you for the investigation as I can see it is the ethanol that is the issue here. I will continue to use Premium (97 Octane) and sea foam. as it has solved all my problems of the past. ... All super cool, I on the other hand I have seen enough LS swaps to choke a mule. Hence I rebuilt my 1960 Caddy 390 with custom made ( Race Tech ) 9.5 -1 compression pistons, Iski performance camshaft, Electronic HEI distributor and a Holley Sniper fuel injection system. I have to agree with Tony T. VR1 Valvoline is the way to go. I run a 60 Caddy and a 1951 Chrysler Crown Imperial with the first 331 Hemi in it.  no issues, no leaks, no noisy lifters.
