We've had two Mini's and the easy way to access the engine/trans is to drop the subframe with engine, lift the body higher, and roll the subframe unit out from under the car then go at it from there. Much easier than trying to weasel the engine/trans out through the top. Joe

Hi, First time here but hoping that someone will have a suggestion for me. When packing up to move last fall I realized that as long and as much as I've admired my collection of "Automobile Quarterly" (if you are not familiar with them I'm sure that Google can give you a better overview than I can) over the years that I haven't so much as cracked a cover in this century so it it time to find them a good home. I have books 1-1 through 46-2, 184 books if my math is correct, as well as several indexes and maybe a few duplicates. I would like to donate them to someplace where they will be used and enjoyed by the car loving public rather than selling them to a collector but will admit that I am drawing a blank as to how or who to contact to make this happen but after receiving the latest issue of "Drivers Club" I had the thought that somewhere in the Hagerty universe that someone might be able to give me some direction. Seeing that picture in the article reminded me, I moved last year and am still uncovering stuff, that I have a framed poster from Champion spark plugs that was probably taken on the same day. It is shot from the front of the car and Dean appears to be dressed the same, as well as the uncombed hair, there is the front end of a VW on the left side of the poster as well as two other guys. The rear of the car is open and there is a box of Champion plugs in plain view forward of the windscreen.

I lived in Tulsa in the late '50's and on my way home from grade school one day there was a similar Nash tri-tone (pink/black/gray) parked on my street. To me it looked like something from outer space. I may have seen another one in my life but that one has stuck with me all those years. This was of the era where pink and black clothing was all the rage, a narrow window of time in the fashion world for sure. In the '90's I was an instructor for a community college auto tech program and we took in cars from the general public. A client brought in his Bill Blas designer Matador and while the solid color blue was no match for the tri tone Ambassadors of years past that "touch of weird" was still there. J
