Last May I decided to look at a new Camry hybrid. So I happened to see Truecar on line and decided to give it a try. I already new what I was willing to pay and I expected to haggle to get it. Anyway, I got three nearby dealership spec’s and prices with vin number. The Olympia Toyota dealer beat the other two by $3000 and Even had way more options including a sunroof. Went down put a deposit, car would be coming in the end of the week (had no Camrys on the lot, but 3 scheduled for delivery). They called Thursday car was in, went over paid and picked it up. Have bought a lot of vehicles over the years but the last one blew me away. May 2021 thought about buying a new Toyota Camry hybrid. Researched models & prices and decided I would not pay more than $25000. An add came up on the computer for TrueCar so I filled it out and by the end of the day I had three prices from three local dealers. The lowest price was $3000 less than the other two and had more extras and a sunroof ( the two option packages listed for a little over $3000) so basically $6000 less, all were LE hybrids. Called the dealership to confirm price and was told they had none on the lot but this was one of three being shipped and were due next week and they sent me a copy of the invoice. Went over the next day and signed paperwork. They called me the next week car was in and I picked it up on Wednesday. No pressure no add ons. Well I tried just about everything on my new 77 Ford 150 4x4 with 351m and I still only got 10-12mpg I loved the truck but was disgusted with the mileage. I was thrilled when I bought my new 99 Dodge Dakota 4x4 and was getting 17-18 mpg, however, today that is not even good enough. Trying to figure out how I can bring that up to around 23-24mpg. While I'm not thrilled with the idea of electric I'm not thrilled with the filling up with gas at $4.00 a gallon and getting 10-12 mpg either. I see a lot of cars I would love to have but remember filling up those 25 gallon gas tanks back in the 60-70's and think what it would cost me today. A real turnoff. I find myself not driving my cars, I have 8 older collectors, and driving my newer Camry hybrid ,51-58mpg. I'm just not going to throw my money away to the big oil companies. The 02-05 Thunderbirds. I considered a boxter or cc but after reading the problems owners were having, and expensive problems at that, I didn't think I needed that. I wanted something fun and enjoyable. I then looked at the Chrysler crossfire, but the back window falling out (convertible) and you had to replace the entire top I stayed away from that. Then I came to the Thunderbird. The first one one had over 300,000 miles and still ran great, engine & trans never been opened. Did read about problem with original coils shorting out and front computer giving problems but once fixed these cars are bulletproof. So I have had it for 6 years and love it. $98 for a coil replacement and $225 for front computer repair with lifetime warranty, minor repairs compared to what I had looked at and looking to put 300,000 miles on mine someday, 106,000 now. ... C6 was fords best trans made. Had one on my 68 wagon with the 428. Never had a lick of problems. Was used for a car pool, 10 adults ,140 miles a day in the heat of the Mojave desert. Only problem was tires until I went with light truck tires.  ... View more
