I think the term you’re thinking of is speculator or even investor.   Jay Leno is a collector and I think anyone who says he’s not an enthusiast would be laughed out of the thread. @elldorado2000 If you really think the end is that near, you should take some time and look into regulations Australia, Germany, Japan, etc. have had on the books for years. In Australia there are regulations on how you can modify your car, rigorous engineering inspections before your highly modded cars can be allowed on the road pretty much everything has a catalytic convertor on it regardless of age anymore but somehow their hobby is surviving. In Germany the TUV has been restricting what can be done to cars even more, yet somehow their hobby is thriving. In Japan people mod their cars but they have TUV level inspection requirements. Their car culture isn't dead.   What I mean to say is nobody is going to take the keys to your classic by gunpoint and shoot your dog. This is the EPA and CARB, the ATF wouldn't like the competition! Like the joke? Bottom line, would these sorts of things suck here? Yup! Are they coming? Eventually. Will the hobby survive? Absolutely. The hobby is what you make of it and I contend that emissions from carbureted, non-catalytic converter having V8s make up so little pollution anymore in the grand scheme that going after them in the manner you say is just vindictive and unlikely to gather wide support outside of a state by state basis. It certainly isn't going to earn any votes, especially during a high stakes midterm election year. So as a 2022 prediction, you're still off topic. All I see is a lack of restraint to be able to talk about anything but politics. For the record, I'd scold you just as bad if you sat on the other side of the political spectrum. I cannot stand people interjecting their political opinions when it has nothing to do with the topic at hand. Democrat or Republican lean doesn't matter. How about doing something useful with your time and outrage and join SEMA, lobby your local, state and federal representatives (respectfully mind you, because when was the last time you did something for someone because they were rude). Look, I share many of the concerns about the hobby from being able to use my car, find parts affordably, and how the volatility of members of our community driving young enthusiasts away. I have to say that there are so many comments here that are so encouraging and I love it.   There are just as many that upset me deeply. To those people, you have no right to dictate how someone else enjoys the car hobby. We can all agree to disagree on what is the best way to enjoy it, but it should be left there. To those who label SLAB owners as idiots, hoodlums or dangerous, really need to reassess their lives. They are what are driving potential new enthusiasts away from the hobby. @Oldroad1 I carry significantly less optimism that a simple administration change will solve all of our automotive problems. The auto companies have been planning this change since well before 1/20/2021. I will say that I am not ready to switch over to EV and it truly disinterests me and I am not totally convinced it is the solution everyone thinks it is. Everyone is too focused on what comes out the tailpipe and not the whole process from manufacturing to the day the car comes off the road to be recycled. But I am no so delusional to think that this point in time has been coming WAY longer than we realize and has absolutely nothing to do with cheap or expensive gas. Strategic planning for the auto companies doesn't happen overnight and it takes years to bring a car to market and I think it'll take longer than they think to go fully EV, but like it or not, EV is what's coming and every company has made some sort of commitment. @Oldroad1 there we’re pronounced shortages with the previous administration too. Like I said previously, this isn’t a political problem. The pandemic overturned supply chains everywhere and in my personal experience dealing with some of it, it’s just plain increased demand for goods that weren’t there before and these places couldn’t handle things, even before the labor shortage. These issues didn’t magically appear on 1/20/2021 they've already been here, there’s just someone new to lay our problems at the feet of. Let me clue you in on a little secret, it isn’t the orange man or the old man who are to blame, the consumer are the real root. When plants are shut down here or overseas, but we just gotta have that new *name your product* anyway, we  put stress on an already fragile system called on time manufacturing. Couple that with the tiniest of hiccups in a supply chain for that product (strike, difficulty getting materials, an entire shift gets sick) it snowballs. Not having to buy that item because I deserve it, or I want it but sitting back and saying “do I need this right now” and choosing not to buy if you don’t, would go a long way to clear things up (and just so you remember, stimulus payments were signed off on by both presidents too). So you can’t tell me this is a left problem or a right problem, and if that’s how you see it, go back to your echo chamber on Facebook. I think the 632's main competition/tough selling point is the fact that you can probably build a 1,000 hp twin turbo LS for less than this thing will probably cost. I think this'll be a market dud aside from the few people who thump their chest and proclaim "there's no replacement for displacement" but I think that is an ever shrinking crowd. Don't get me wrong, I actually like the big block chevy a lot, but like a Buick, Olds, Pontiac or Cadillac V8 from the days of old, there are better, more affordable options for power unless you want to keep your car "pure" and not LS swap it. ...
