I had a similar style door on a mid-century house in St. Charles, IL. The hinges between panels had loosened and could not be made tight enough again. I took the entire door down in sections, stripped and repainted every section, filled and redrilled the screw holes so the joints between sections were tight again, and put it all back together. It was like new and was that way when we sold the house several years later. I would not have even thought about replacing that period correct door.
