Here’s my 1980 VW Rabbit pickup truck, which I bought for $400 in 1992, with the intention of replacing the blown engine and shedding the yellow paint job in favor of a basic black to match my 1983 Rabbit GTI (which I still own and drive, 33 years later). Aside from amassing a bunch of parts, including a 16-valve engine and transmission from a Golf GTI, I never got farther than stripping most of the paint and (Like an idiot) letting the surface flash rust. I’ve always wanted to get this project going, but either a lack of money or a lack of time have always stopped me from getting too far.
