I'm not sure I would qualify the Probe as bad/failure/should have never happen, or however it was framed at the beginning. Interesting about Jaguar - I worry about them. There really hasn't been anything "Jaguar(ish)" about their vehicles in quite a while. They spent money chasing down with the XE and then had to go back and revise their interiors across the board to bring them to average.
