In 1990 I took delivery of the only new pickup I have ever owned. A F350 supercab with 7.3 litre International diesel putting out 170hp, 345 lb/ft torque, 5 speed ZF manual , limited slip rear end and cloth buckets and electric this and that which I didn't really want. After taking it back to the dealer the next day with a list of 20 or so problems including out of round rear drums, non functioning limited slip etc. I eventually put 220,000 miles on it, averaging 16 to 18 mpg . That's the real 160oz Gal. I now have a Mercedes GLK250 with a 2.1litre compound turbodiesel putting out 200hp, 385lb/ft of torque which when combined with a 4x8 aluminum utility trailer will do 99% of what I did with the Ford in great comfort while getting nearly 50mpg. When I look at new pickups today I have to assume the owner is 5'4" and compensating for some serious inadequacies.
