What year Q-Jets are these with leaking well plugs? Were they leaking "Back In The Day" when the carbs were new, or nowadays, after years of use and abuse? I've rebuilt probably a hundred Q-Jets from 1969 through 1980, and never once saw leaking plugs. I keep hearing "The Well Plugs Leak", but I've never seen it. When I was just getting started in this, I ruined a perfectly good Q-Jet body by trying to remove the factory plugs and install a kit "Just In Case". I'm not doubting you guys or anything, but I swear I've NEVER seen leaking well plugs. I know, this is an extremely popular "rant topic", but I'm not trying to start anything. Not a good idea GM. If you think you need a SUV version of a Corvette, how about basing it off the 1953 Corvette Nomad? You could start with a base 6 cylinder, upgraded versions of V-8's, and if you need to follow the trend, an electric version. I've looked several times at new Caddys to see if there were any I would consider but nawwww... for the reasons you state, they don't measure up. That being said, my '06 V series (except for a lousy Differential) is the best car I've ever had. It's. still beautiful and balanced and lots of fun. When I was freshly out of college, and accustomed to driving old Fords, I bought a 1937 Packard 120 and it was my daily driver, and only 3 years older than me. Say what you will, it was a beautiful car and fun to drive, and only cost a couple of hundred dollars to buy. While I was in college, I had an opportunity to buy one that was several years older. It had an engine bay that was nearly as long as my then current old Ford. It was a very nicely preserved limo, with a window that separated the driver from the passengers, a speaking tube, crystal bud vases and beautiful maroon paint. It drove nicely, although its size was a little intimidating. I can still remember how that huge engine sounded when running it through the gears. The asking price (1960) was $1,500.00 but I couldn't dig up the money. I told my father that it would be the best investment he could ever make and would one day be worth $1,000,000.00 but he laughed at me, and it was back to the old Ford for 3 or 4 more years. ... I feel like some of these "writers" either feel guilty or hate for all things fun and automotive and feel that you need to feel guilty too because then they might feel better. They don't do much of any research, spout opinions with little substance and can't stand it when those pesky facts get in the way. The other problem is Facebook/Twitter/Instagram. Most car forums have died or severely lost traffic due to these platforms. Good luck finding any knowledge on those platforms, it's hard.
