I have either bought, sold or Brokered 21 Corvettes in my lifetime. I currently own a Viper Truck (SRT10). I have never seen anything that pulls like the V10 Viper Engine. I have had several serious Health events, so I don't let mine sit around. I have 212,000 on my Viper Truck. I had mice chew up the wiring on my Viper and blew up the engine. I bought a low mileage Viper Engine, added a Comp Cam, Gibson Headers, Computer Tune. Now, I have also owned several Gen 2 Hemis, but I have never seen anything that pulls as hard as my Viper. Brilliant writing, and a brilliantly engineered automobile. Sadly, there is only an audience for one of these. The writing is superb, enjoyable and accessible, the car unfortunately just too expensive. Add in vanilla sheet metal and the trauma of GM service, and the audience that could afford this beast, won't bother. Dodge sells many more wide-body, much less capable sedans for a similar price, but they also market to a wider audience with more affordable aspirational versions. Clear to me the mano-a-mano competition was not only behind the wheel, it was at the keyboard. "Brain eating fun" WT? I own a 2022 and the off road features aren't protected like they should be. I drive on 2 miles of gravel and in 600 kms paint chips running up along back doors. I can see getting stone chips along the bottom but not up along the opening of back doors. Checked with Nissan they tell you how to fix it with 3m or steps. I can see that it can happen to but not in 600 kms at 50kms an hour on the gravel. As advertised as off road but without good protection won't have any paint left along the back door openings. David, I don't think the Gullwing is indicative of anything except shrinking supply and narrow but wealthy demand. I think there are a lot of unrealistic prices out there, and by that I mean overheated dollars assigning values to cars that aren't worth the rate of exchange. Everybody has to remember that the Hobby is similar to Fine Art in that, once more, there is more dollars chasing less cars. And for those who participate in Auctions let me remind you of the Auction's Curse: If you are the winning Bid you are the only person in the room who thought the car was worth that much money. You can’t compare a vehicle built 12 years ago with one built this year. You have to keep in mind that manufacturers are constantly under pressure to make their vehicles more fuel efficient and less polluting. One solution is to reduce the power that the engine makes. Remember the massive V8 engines in the early 80’s that were severely de-tuned and struggled to make 120HP in order to meet the new emission laws? Same idea. As far as capacitive touch screens being a miss, how many people have that same technology on their phone or tablet? Auto makers are just trying to take the familiar operation of those devices and incorporate it into your car. My guess is more people like it than hate it simply because it is familiar.
