No offense to this gentleman, but I'd wager the way he seems to "detail" a vehicle's paint finish there 'must' be oodles of spider scratches left in his wake. Microfiber cloths are not expensive and are plentiful. Why he doesn't use several as he covers a small area at a time is a mystery to me. On this particular Z car I would have gone through no fewer than a couple of dozen large clean cloths (and likely more) and a heck of a lot more spray-on detailer as lubricant. As well I would advise negligible pressure if any when lifting off the amount of dust as displayed in this particular video segment. I'm far from being labelled a pro but will admit being a total fuss pot. I've owned my fully restored Chevrolet for 8 years, never taken water to the exterior and there are 'no' spider scratches or swirl marks on any surface. I for one see some timeless styling here and have a difficult time believing Chrysler didn't jump on making this body design a reality. There's a distinct hint of Bentley / Rolls in these published photograph's, a vast improvement over many of the body designs put into production over the next 10 - 15 years after this concept vehicle was shown by Chrysler, Dodge & Plymouth. Too bad there weren't a few interior shots taken of this XX-500. I'm convinced they'd reflect the exterior's elegance as well. Thanks for discussing this long overlooked facet of automobile maintenance. I had hoped that the author of this article would have touched base on cooling system product alternatives. I've often stewed over this particular aspect of preserving the integrity of my big block Chevrolet engine so I decided to follow Jay Leno's lead by using Evans Waterless Coolant (after performing a thorough rebuild on my 396 cubic inch 350 h.p numbers matching engine). I replaced the radiator and heater core during the Chevelle's rotisserie restoration so it made sense to switch over from the conventional water / glycol coolant. I replaced the thermostat with a lower than standard setting (170) and to a lower rated rad cap (7p.s.i). I'm now able to check the radiator level even when the engine is up to normal operating temperature without fear of a thermal geyser as would be the case using the typical water based fluid. After 6 years I can report no operating deviations or visual appearance changes. When you take away water and oxygen in a fluid that's in contact with iron (as in my case), corrosion isn't going to be an issue. The only issue I've heard about regarding this product is with immersion style block heaters. Off hand I can't remember if it had something to do with metallurgy.
