MPH 168, your tests while interesting, are not the entire answer. Go look at what an OEM does to their fuel systems to handle ETHANOL concentrations above 10%. This typically means special fuel lines, stainless steel fuel rails, special injectors and so forth. Do you think they do this just for fun? Yes, some of the challenge is due to water because ethanol absorbs it. Do you really believe there is no water in the fuel distribution network and underground tanks? There is no water in the atmosphere that fills your fuel tank as the fuel is consumed? The OEMs make these decisions based on data and what is required for the products to live in the field. I speak from direct experience, not conjecture. Even at 10%, ethanol is often a problem for many engines. If you use the fuel quickly, it's not as great an issue. For small engines, boats, and cars that may sit for months without consuming a tank of fuel - it is a problem. It can be reduced somewhat by keeping the tanks full to remove air space and by using high grade fuel stabilizer with anti corrosion additives. E15 doesn't make life better for them. My small engines ate fuel lines with regularity with E10. Since I moved to E0 Rec fuel, no problem. If you like ethanol fuel - use it, but recognize the compromises and don't force it on those who don't want it. ... View more

I ordered my '22 C8 in March of '21. I got it on Pearl Harbor Day, '21. To date, I've put 2,000 miles on it. I'm 71 and this is my 7th Vette. So, geriatric. I love the car. What I don't like: (1) I wear graduated bifocals (Varilux?). When the rear view mirror is in "camera" mode, it is blurry unless I tilt my head back so I'm viewing the "mirror" out of the bottoms of my glasses. (2) No way to hang your elbow over the door. As for getting in and out, at first, everyone was laughing, including me, at the sight of me egressing. As with most physical endeavors, one develops a technique. It has gotten easier. So, in the aggregate, I love this car. Finally, I had a '56, '66 and a pair of '72's that I thought were nicer looking cars. However, I can comfortably go anywhere in this one. If your speaking of valve problems on the V8s I would assume you are speaking of the Active Fuel Management (AFM) system on some of the LS engines. AFM, when operating normally, works very well and is great for consistent hwy fuel mileage. However if not maintained it will malfunction. To keep this system up to tasks 3k oil changes are critical, you can't let the oil get dirty. Use only 5w30 conventional. ... View more
