What three classic/special-use vehicles would you put in your dream garage? Maybe it's a trio of identical '68 Camaros. Maybe it's a Massey-Ferguson 135, a Buick LeSabre, and a Ferrari Daytona. Or an Olds Aerotech, Lunar Rover, and Ducati Diana. Whatever your tastes, tell us what constitutes your ideal happy place.
Two Shelbys and a McLaren walk into a garage...
Porsche 356 Carrera GT Speedster---Jaguar XK 120 Roadster---1960 Chysler 300 413 cu Convertible
My ideal 3 car collection would be a 1961 Oldsmobile Starfire, a 5 speed 1969 Olds 442, and a 1975 Triumph tr-6.
66 Mustang 6cyl auto; 66 GTO; 67 Buick Wildcat
Fast: 1967 Cobra 427
Fun: 1970 Mustang Mach 1 with 428 CobraJet
Functional: 2020 F-150 Crew Cab 4x4 with biggest available V8
Yes, I am a Ford Guy.
Although I like the lead-in of "2 Shelby's and a McLaren...", my ideal 3-car collection is currently in my garage.
That is a pony car (my '66 Mustang), a hot rod (my '34 Plymouth coupe), and a sports car (my C6 Corvette Grand Sport). Of course, it is a growing collection (currently building a '33 Ford roadster with a fuel-injected Chevy 348) and the needed support vehicle (my crew-cab pickup). But perhaps the best part is the shop itself. With the exception that it is taking longer to get mail-order parts, I have hardly noticed the "stay-at-home" orders 'cuz I have lots to keep me busy in the shop.
Everybody stay safe, healthy and keep the dirty side down.
1968 Dodge Charger 383 auto silver-black interior. 1965-67 triumph TR4-A BRG-black interior. 1966 up first generation Ford bronco wagon. any color. First choice takes care of Mopar musclecar and cruiser. Second choice checks off the sports car and convertible. Last one takes care of classic truck.
1. 66 Olds 442
2. 70 Trans Am
3. 69 Shelby GT500KR
They are in my Cambridge, KS garage. 1969 Porsche 911, 1952 Mercedes-Benz 220a, and the replica Maserati Birdcage'
-64 Riviera. My first real collector purchased a year ago. Fly's under the radar, good history, 425 motor moves the mail. Been bullet proof so far.
-65 C10 Chevy. 350, auto, air. Hopefully will be mine at the end of the summer. Found this vehicle purchased from my grandfather's Chevy dealership in Terrell, Tx 1934-1968. Hagerty article written by Jeff Peck helped me find it.
-Like to acquire a mid 50's Merc. Wagon, four door or coupe. Attention to detail, badging, chrome treatment all appeal to me.
1968 Cougar GT-E
1964 GTO 389 tri-power
1980 International Scout
Heaven.
Tough one, but I like my 1967 corvette coupe, 1970 buick gs stage 1, and my 1987 buick grand national
Got 'em all ---
* 1935 Cadillac sedan resto-mod with 472 Cadillac engine. Over 26,000 miles.
* 1973 Cadillac Caribou pickup (no, it is not an old flower car)
* Glenn Pray, factory built, Generation 2, Auburn Boat tail Speedster
😊 Yes, I like red.
Type 55 Bugatti roadster , 1973 BMW 3.0CS and a 1980's El Camino hot rod with a BMW V-12 and T-top.
Only three?
First, I'm partial to homologation specials, so a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona with a Hemi and a four-speed is a must.
Second, I'm of mostly German ancestry, so something from that country would be required. That something would be a BMW M1.
Third, I was born in 1958, so something from that year would complete the set. A 1958 Pontiac Bonneville, that year's Indy pace car, would be best.
'68 Chevy Camaro; '58 Plymouth Fury Christeen; '91 Dodge Ram D150 LE short box 2 wheeled drive
As a younger person I fantasized about having a nice warehouse that I could store about 100 cars from the '20's up to the present. Old age having taken me in her arms, the fantasy has dwindled, and the three cars that, if I had the room, would be:
1. 1963 Austin Healey 3000 MKII
2. Jaguar XK140 Drophead Coupe
3. Jaguar 3.8 MKII Saloon
1955 Belair convertible
1964.5 Mustang conv’t
1965 GTO convertible
or would it be my
1948 Ford 1 1/2 ton
1950 GMC 1 1/2 ton
1955 Ford COE
or my
1930 Ford Tudor
1988 Bronco II
2001 BMW Z3 roadster
or my
1948 Plymouth
194? John Deere LA
1966 Ford F-250
or, well, three?
ONLY 3?
Only three - bugga!!
1949 Buick Roadmaster series 79 woody wagon for general suburban schmoozing

1975 Peugeot 504 convertible with Douvrin v6 motor
61 Corvette- former weekend 1/4 mile drag car from the 70’s
67 Falcon 289 Sports Coupe - wife’s car and stock
64 VW Dune Buggy we drive to and on the Outer Banks
Daily driver is a 17 RF Miata with all of technology absent in the above.
Chrysler Turbine car. I've been fascinated by that car since I was 6 and it first came out.
Toyota Century V12. Just to cruise around in total luxury without people outside-the-know realizing what it is. Non-ostentatious. But wow, luxury.
1964 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk, black, red interior, supercharged, four speed, power front disc brakes, air conditioning, power steering, no radio. I'd want to listen to the supercharger and that great 289 Stude V8.
Any Vette...already got an '86, used to have a '93
1955 Chevy...luv 'em all
1962 Impala SS 4 speed...had one once...never should have sold it!
38 Ford Club Coupe Convertible resto mod (have it) 302 stroked to 347
71 Plymouth Cuda, 440, 4 speed with 70 seats as the 71 seats were ugly.
72 Triumph GT6
My back wouldn't last taking long drives in the Triumph but I'm sure it would do just fine with short spirited ones.
My sweet spot is primarily cars from the 50's as I prefer art & design over muscle. I like a wide range of domestic vehicles but no specific makes or models so my current collection includes a nut & bolt restoration, a stock vehicle with new original interior and 15-year old repaint and a survivor in good mechanical condition but 95% cosmetically original. This approach gives me a broad exposure to the hobby for a sensible investment.
66 mustang 2+2 -289/4speed
70 Boss 302
78-79 Ford F-250 shortbed 4x4
1935 Chris Craft with K engine. 1957 Penn Yan ( under restoration) with 1955 K-Mercury 40 hp converted to electric. Acura TL 2004........220,000 miles and still runs strong!
1967 Chevelle SS, 1967/8 Firebird 400 or 1968 Firebird Sprint w/ 250 cid/230 HP OHC,4 speed trans, Randel AMC 401/4 speed Gremlin X or Baldwin Motion V8 Vega.
Had a '67 Chevelle SS 396 close ratio Muncie and 4.10 posi 12 bolt rear end. When I bought the car in 1975 the 396 was gone in place of a 1962 327/300. I put a on a Q-jet with the stock cast iron q-jet manifold in place of the worn out AFB and put a dual point conversion in the distributor. After many hours of fine tuning the car was stupid quick. The car was totaled on the way to work when a guy cut in front of me at high speed. Out of the 90+ cars I have owned it is the one I most wish I still had.
I really like the early Firebird. I think they look nicer than the same year Camaro. In the late 60's in High School there were a couple of these in the student parking lot.
Gremlin X or V8 Vega, who dosen't like a small car with a big engine.
69 VW Beetle
70 Porsche 914
98 Porsche Boxster
1970 Hemi Challenger, 1969 Boss 302 Mustang, 1965 fuelie Corvette(convertible), all with 4 speeds. If I was dealt these cards, I'd stand pat...
200 series SL
CJ2
F250 Crewcab
That would do it.
Beyond difficult to limit to only three. But, if I must:
1.) Porsche 356C coupe
2.) Any year of Mk I MGB, with overdrive
3.) '72 BMW 2002Tii
Having either owned, or still own all of the above, from new or near-new, I can honestly say those are my lifelong favorites.
I think I already have them. I have a desire to own collector cars that are somewhat different. Don't get me wrong, a 1969 Camero is a great car, but there are tons of them.
A) I have a super nice 1928 Mode-A Ford that I have owned since 1994. It has had some improvements to make it drivable. Cast iron brake drums, heavy duty radiator, a high compression head (looks stock), and a counterwighted crankshaft. The car has been restored, because I brought it home in a box.
B) I have a 1957 Ford Skliner Convertible that attracts attention wherever it goes. You don't even need to operate the top on the car to have people coming up to you when you come out to the parking lot when running an errand. The car has 61,000 miles, but it has been restored, and the top gone through.
C) I have a 1936 Plymouth Opera Sedan streetrod. Not a lot of that Mopar pre-war tin running around.
1. 80s Wagoneer preferably with a Hemi swap
2. Cayman GT4
3. Regular cab 4WD (Godzilla) F-350

2. Cayman GT4
3. Regular cab 4WD (Godzilla) F-350
If I could go back in time.......Didn't realize it at the time but I'd like the three that got away. 63Falcon Sprint, 58 MGA, 74 TR6. All were as built and cherry. As of now I have two that will have to do. 63 Falcon Futura Convertible (original), 64 Falcon Futura hardtop (modified) and to complete the list a 40 Ford Business Coupe.
61 Studebaker Wagon
21 Tesla Roadster
21 Merc E63 Wagon (daily driver)
and if I could cheat and have a 4th...
61 Nash Metropolitan
