I misread the headline as paying $5000 more for a manual 2003 Integra and immediately thought "I don't think I'd pay $5000 for one period let alone that much more for manual".
I'm sure 2003 Integra are a great car and probably a smart buy right now (and good ones probably top 5k). Just not my thing.
I think this kills any leg up the Integra has over the Civic Si, which in my opinion wasn't much already. Now with the GR Corolla coming out and supposedly in the same price range, I think the Integra is dead to enthusiasts (not that it wasn't already) before it even arrives.
If car manufacturers want to bring back, or maintain, manual transmissions to appeal to the car enthusiasts in the world, I think they need to truly understand the enthusiast. I, for example, would much prefer to have a manual in the base model of a particular car and forgo all the technology packages, warning indicators, power seats, climate control, etc. Heck, I might even prefer manual roll-up windows. Maybe the mfrs should first survey those who prefer manual transmissions before building a car they think we will buy. After all, we buy cars with manual transmissions because we enjoy driving in it's simplest form and don't want to be driven by technology.
The Accord Coupe with the V6 and a manual was a very nice unicorn in the market.
