I guess am the exception. I have never been a big Miata fan. To me it was rather modern and soulless compared to the Lotus it copied. Sure it was more reliable, so made a much better daily driver, but I don't have sports cars as daily drivers any more and if I did I would probably prefer an MGB. Anyways, with that said, the rather bland looks of the Miata (especially the early series - the newer ones are better looking) corrected by Simpson in giving it the baby Ferrari looks, I quite like them. I think his Aston knockoff misses the mark since its small size doesn't look quite right to me. The blue Italia, however, is very handsome. As for the others, they are mostly just weird. Who would want to be seen in them?

Do you recall the BRG/Biscuit interior Miata? A direct slap at the great British cars it replaced. Give me another TR6 like my Damson Burgundy/Peanut Brittle colors.

It's hardly Miata's fault Old Blighty dropped the ball, no more than Datsun's 240Z for filling the void left by the Austin-Healey 3000.   Hardly "direct slaps."

Had a TR-6 (loved it, Black on tan and Ansa exhaust), drove hundreds of other BL sports cars (worked at a BL store) and always loved the Elan.
When the MX5 was introduced I ordered one as soon as I saw it at the auto show 'cause I loved it. Mariner blue, B package and hardtop. Was a fantastic car.
The BRG version was an awesome homage to the Brit's and looked fantastic.
Too bad you're missin' the forest for the trees.

I currently own a M1Stang built by Bill Carnes St. Augustine Fl. On a'93 Miata, it's alot of fun to drive.

I had several 60's and 70's sports cars in the 80's and 90's prior to picking up a NA Miata in 1999. I have not looked back since. I had a (in year order) 62 Sunbeam Alpine, 67 MGB-GT, 67 Porsche 912, 70 Porsche 911, 72 Fiat 124 Spider. The Miata is simply fantastic. The NA is a perfect moment in time where fuel injection was perfected and computers had not yet taken over. It is dead reliable and a blast to drive and pleasure to own. The other sportscars mentioned were on occasion two of those three.

Loved the first one. The spaceship is wonderful,and I want a Tipo. Not that I would know what to do with it nor park it somewhere. I'm negotiating for more space with serious heat
and air in the space and very LOCKABLE which Hagerty will love and then I'm switching Insurance Companies. My space locks now, but this is the Left Coast, so there's some openess that few Insurance carriers are amused about.

Very cool, thanks for bringing us this. I was not aware of these kits, but of courses I have not looked into it. The spaceship is way over the top but kind of cool as a show car, I don't like the MEV Exocet, but that is purely subjective as it looks like a lot of fun. The others I think look great. I've seen a first gen Miata at our local cars and coffee with a Ford 302 in it. The owner was never around when I was , hopefully some day I'll see the guy and be able ask questions.

Simpson Design is in Clinton WA and not Houston TX!
That being said, having owning an Austin Healy, 3 Sunbeam Alpines, 3 Sunbeam Tigers, and 4 Lotus Elans, but my 2 NA Miatas were my favorites. SD does an excellent job if you like the look.

I like the Simpson Design and Exocet the most, followed by the Tipo 184, with the others trailing far behind. The Chrome Spaceship leaves me cold, too steampunk looking, and probably heavy to boot. The Blackwell SPR1 turns a convertible into a coupe, that's the wrong direction IMHO. I've owned three (3) Miatas. The first is a 1993 black and tan that is awaiting conversion into a kit after it was rear-ended by a Dodge Durango and totaled. Next was a 2004 Mazdaspeed Miata that I sold after accident damage that was poorly repaired began rusting out. My current ride is a 2013 Grand Touring PRHT, with 80k miles on it, bought new in June, 2013, I'm the original owner. The kit choices for the donor 1993 are between a Lotus 7 replica or an MGTG Sports MG TF Replica.
