One of the design briefs for the C4 Corvette was that it had a minimal frontal cross-section, so it was less visible to radar. In other words, it helped you get away with speeding. Another target was to be the most powerful car sold in America.

When the ZR-1 came out I thought that the engine was just about the best looking thing. The performance was understood back in the day but people did balk at the price. The LT5 seemed to take boot pretty well back in the day. I still love the ZR-1 motor, easily my favorite thing about the C4 Corvette.
