The ZR1 moniker is synonymous with the top-performing Corvette, thanks to the exotic DOHC LT4 and supercharged 6.2-liter LS9 and LT5 small-block V-8s that have powered the top Corvette in its fourth, sixth, and seventh generations. Less well-known is the ZR1 Stingray from 1970-72, which used a power-dense 350-cubic-inch LT1.

I was unaware of this model. I thought the 69 L88/ZL1 were the last of the great Corvettes for a long time.

A neighbor worked for Chevy years ago and got yo drive one of these. He said it was a beast.

If I recall him correctly there was no radio and no heater in these.

Rare corvette indeed but why does this article say it's the rarest corvette ever built at 12 when the 69 ZL1 only had 2 produced?

It says "Perhaps the Monterey crowd will embrace one of the rarest Corvettes ever built."
