Smithology: Secrets of the Supra that broke (actually, wore out) the mold | Hagerty Media

The first thing you learn when you talk to the Mark 4 Turbo Supra man is that there is no Mark 4 Turbo Supra man. I mean, there is, of course. He exists. But I can't tell you his name, because he works for Toyota's North American office in a technical capacity, and is typically not permitted to speak to the press.

"Twist The Driveshaft Like A Drill Bit"....
I'm gonna remember that one!
One of my neighbors has a MKIV. Pure stock, Super Deep Red, neat as a pin, and he babies it.
My MKII will never have that kind of power, but I still love it.

I've done it, it's on my mantle to this day. I've been describing it "like a bread wrapper tie" but I'm switching to drill bit from now on!

I did some cursory research on "taco as a verb," and found this line: "Don’t miss the big idea: anything can be taco-ed."

Every profession has its own poetry. And its own hyperbole: 2500 hp?!

As a former avid cyclist, I had the memorable experience of "tacoing" a front wheel.
Consider: a taco shell is basically a disc, folded. We shouldn't want anything else folded, except maybe clothes.

Taco is also short for the Tacoma truck.

I have a 2JZ in a Mercedes SSK replica, and a throw-back to original would be a blower. An obstacle of significance is the electronics. Toyota does not make it easy.
My son has replaced the 2JZ in his MKIII Supra with a 1UZ. The light weight four cam V8 fits well and a blower nests under the hood. Eagle rods are taco resistant.

"Take the stuff off that makes the the turbo, the turbo?" Also missing the "M4IM: "

The 2JZ runs as smooth as butter, too. Way nicer than the 7M did. Just like the Packard ad said, "Ask the man who owns one!"

The built drag cars are insane. Here are two examples of 2000+ hp...
