Rides from the Readers: 1962–63 Sunbeam Harrington Le Mans coupe
Today’s featured vehicle is a 1962–63 Sunbeam Harrington Le Mans coupe. While coachbuilder Harrington was responsible for converting Sunbeam’s trim convertibles to coupes, standard Harrington coupes retained the big tailfins of the roadster; the Le Mans models, however, lack this characteristic feature. The fastback body style derived from the two Sunbeam Alpines bodied by Harrington that raced in the 1961 24 Hours of Le Mans. One finished second in its class—an achievement Sunbeam decided to commemorate with an appropriately named grand touring model.
