Monkeemobile = grooviest car EVER. The only misstep is it's a dummy supercharger but I could fix that.

Apparently, the first Monkeemobile built for the show originally had a functioning supercharger, which was disabled when the car proved to be dangerously fast.

Wow I never knew that! I can think of a handful of better ways to tune out power without losing the blower though.

My dad used to make us watch reruns of the Monkees.

I liked the show and as a kid thought the car was a wild looking thing.

As an adult I can't defend the looks of it except "It's a TV car".

The Hertz-Shelby GT500 seems to be a silly effort, but I'm ok with it. Considering the regular GT500 can barely put the 760hp to the ground I would not expect this one to be any faster.

The Monkeemobile has some oddball side exhausts. I agree I wish the supercharger was real.

A 900 HP rental car….now there’s a recipe for disaster. Cool stuff though. If I were there and could afford it, count me in.

A German Scout…..I want an article about this vehicle. I’m a Scout guy and I’m wondering about this one.

As for the monkee mobile, not sure the younger crowd has any idea who they are. This vehicles value has probably seen it’s best day. Think Pierre Laval….

Does VW own the International Scout history and rights now or just jumped on a name trademark that expired (or someone sold them)?

Stellantis for example, would own a lot of names/history if all the rights from prior incarnations/mergers still carry forward. We've seen Willys on Jeeps for example... no Kaisers that I recall though.

No mention of the projected rental fee's for the Hertz Shelby GT 500. Wonder if they'll incorporate a 'rev limiter' and some other devise to monitor the driving behaviors of those with the deep pockets whom opt to rent such a high powered vehicle? No doubt this limited fleet will command collector interest when disposed of.
