North America was the market for MG from 1946 to 1980. More MG's are still on the road in North America than anywhere else in the world. For MG to produce a new roadster without consideration of the marketplace potential for it in North America would be, to be blunt, absolutely stupid. In order to re-enter the market in North America, a dealer body that can sell / service and a car/parts distribution business would need to be fully re-established --- both expensive investments, but necessary to be successful. Vehicle quality would need to be the primary focus ... any new entry is going to have to compete against the Japanese auto companies from a quality perspective, and quality is something MG has never been able to achieve (I've had 5 MG's --- 2 bought new. I've been down the road with poor dealers and lousy distributors). Entry into the North American market would be key for any new MG roadster to be financially successful --- otherwise, all you would have is another poorly executed, marketed, and distributed product like the MG F's and MG TF's that were produced between 1995 and 2011. Damn shame really --- the market for a new MG Roadster is there.
