Meet Ferrari’s F1-powered, record-setting Arno XI boat
Decades before Italian icons Riva and Ferrari collaborated to produce 40 Riva-Ferrari 32 speedboats in 1990, the first Ferrari-powered sea horse was built with a single focus: to set a world speed record on water.
Clearly not very aerodynamic, which makes 150+ mph all that more impressive. The engine is a thing of beauty. For those who don’t know, 60 mph on water is damn fast and at that speed hitting the surface is like concrete, as I learned slalom skiing one very lucky day in my youth. Once you hit 100 mph in anything on water, failure is not an option. Another example of the bravery. (or foolishness) of early water speed record competitors.
