Lotus in bloom under Chinese owners

Everything about the launch of the Lotus Eletre, the brand's first SUV, is on a scale that the storied British sports car maker has never attempted before. Instead of a rainy test track in Norfolk the scene is the BBC's iconic Television Centre in west London with 300 influencers, YouTubers, journalists and Lotus superfans in attendance.

Before commenters start bemoaning the fact that Lotus will be building an SUV, consider this. SUVs sell well (at least in the U.S.) and are profitable. Hopefully this profit will allow Lotus to continue building great sports cars that may not be as profitable. Porsche may sell many 911s, but their SUV/Crossover products that help fund the further development of 911s.

I'll note that while Lotus was selling the Elite and Eclat four seaters, Colin and Hazel Chapman's personal family car was a Mercedes Benz 450S, not exactly a lightweight car.

How long before the 5 year old children are trained to assemble these? Geely is controlled by the Chinese government. Lotus is dead to me.
