Jaguar resurrects the 3.8-liter XK6 engine block

More than 50 years since the mill ceased production Jaguar is remanufacturing the cast-iron block for its 3.8-liter XK6 engine.

 

The iconic straight-six lump is recast by Jaguar Land Rover's Classic Works facility in Coventry to the exact original specification and, as a genuine OEM part, comes with a 12-month warranty.

Author neglected to mention whether this replacement has bore liners.  None are evident in the Jag supplied photos.  Odd that the front cam drive cover is also included.

@GoFast we reached out to Jaguar UK for more details and they said the block is a "direct JLR Classic reproduction, manufactured to original drawing specifications" and does come with bore liners. The block has been "machined and honed to nominal dimensions."

If an owner/restorer can't find a rebuildable block for less than a couple grand, they are NOT looking very hard.  $18 THOUSAND??? my goodness ...

That price is out of my league lol. Good thing I don't have a Jag that needs an engine.

 

But I like OEM's making old parts as new parts again. More please.
