Ford's next-gen Mustang, Koenigsegg's new hypercar, Hyundai refutes combustion engine shutdown reports

Intake: While a next-generation Ford Mustang has been in the works for some time now, we may finally have a rough date to mark on our calendar. Autoline is reporting that the next generation Mustang is due in March of 2023.

I have my concerns for the next generation Mustang. One would hope they would find a way to lose some weight in the car and keep the V8's coming.

That's funnier than it should be!

I’m also a fan of the V8, but the last data I saw indicated that the 4 banger turbo was outselling it by a good margin.

Fear not petrol heads, the world will not be converting to electricity anytime soon. The massive infrastructure that will be required will take decades to come on line, and even more to finance. Think about what would be involved creating another Niagara Falls.
Newly developed fuels will be the future, how big a battery would a 747 require? That'll never fly and If Elong Mollusk starts building Testicle planes, I'm moving underground.

What the new Corvette coulda been if it had designers instead of a room full of 6yo's with etch-a-sketches.

I can live with an AWD Mustang as long as there is still a RWD, no mid engine please. Gotta have a V8 too. Less weight would be good too but I don't see that happening.

I don't have a problem with Mustang adding a 4wd/awd option, its evolution and things are alowed to grow.. it can be good. I don't even have a problem with an all electric Mustang as an option. I DO have a problem with a 4 door suv type Mustang ( mach e?) because its architecture removes it from being a sporty car. Now we have Mustang Taxis, and a police car. I know we had the SSP Fox body mustangs and they are cool, so why do I say those are ok and not the Mach E version? Because the SSP Fox bodies we're chase cars , not beat up patrol cars in NYC. Keep the Mustang Brand where it belongs please.

Could it be that the hybrid and all-wheel drive Mustangs are the same car? It would make more sense to drive the front wheels electrically as needed with a reasonably small battery pack rather than carry around a mechanical drive unit to the front wheels, thus killing two birds with one stone. Of more concern are rumors that V8s will be rationed to make certain the F Series -- Ford's profit maker -- is fully stocked, while meeting these ridiculous CAFE mandates by limiting the number of GTs to as few as 10,000/year.

Nice touch leaving the NJ manufacturer plate on that SF90 Stromboli, that's a haul from Englewood Cliffs in that thing.

If the next gen Stang is going to be a MACH E variation I would urge FoMoCo not to bother. The MACH E is a Toilet Bowl stain on the Mustang name and legacy.

It seems the market disagrees with you:
In June the Mach E outsold all variants of the Mustang. The average time it took for a Mach E to sell once it arrived at the dealership was just 10 days.
For several months last summer the Mach E was Norway’s best selling vehicle.
In October the Mach E was the second best -selling electric SUV in the US, and a poll indicated that more than 90% of owners would recommend one to a friend.
Last month Ford CEO Jim Farley said the company would triple Mach E production by 2023 to meet “incredible demand.”

Not bad for a toilet bowl stain.

When the batteries start to go away in less than a decade of service U.S. customers will be forced to swallow the harsh truth. EV battery replacements will cost dearly and with that each and every customer will be soaked with a repair that will match half of the original purchase price. But never fear! The government will rescue the customer's lament with a "Refresh Battery Credit" that way John Q Public can get their fair share of the soak. If not, maybe dead battery EV owners can create a Go Fund my Dead Battery page.

The batteries in the Mach E will last less than a decade? How do you know?
The cost will be dearly? Again, how do you know?

Granted, I didn’t spend much time looking up EV battery stats but neither one of your claims seems to compare to what I did find.

For those of us who live in "Reality World", we know that nothing lasts forever and that especially includes any kind of battery. Besides that, I do have proof of at least one EV battery death. One Finnish man deciding to detonate his less than a decade old Tesla due to his lament of having to shell out $22k for a battery replacement installed. A battery installed on anyone of my ICE vehicles? $100 American.

Maybe just novelty seekers? What will it do in the long run?
