I like how you think.
It's not just trucks either. Up here in Northern Wisconsin, we obviously get a lot of snow, which is why a lot of people try to justify having a 4wd (ignoring that for snowy highways an AWD Subaru with snow tires would be more useful for commuting). I have a coworker, she has a lifted Wrangler with all the off-road trimmings, even a winch, that has never been off-road. Last winter, she was stuck in the parking lot during a snowstorm. I went to help her and asked if it was in 4wd, SHE DID NOT KNOW! She has owned a Wrangler for 3 years and doesn't even know how to put it in 4wd! FFS why is she buying an off-road kitted vehicle when she clearly has never taken it off-road and didn't even know how to use 4wd! I respect people buying what they want, I mean let's face it a Ferrari/G-Wagen/Caterham 7/etc is not exactly a practical purchase either, but at least know how to use the vehicle you bought!
Oh I can answer that question JGeske. She bought it for the image, end of discussion. Everyone has 4X4 around here (except us out-of-touch outliers) but you only need it to get through your driveway, the plows are spraying sparks before the first flake falls.
The big screens are here as most mfgs are tied to putting most systems through them. They work fine and are more advanced but they kill the styling of the dash. Oh and the finger prints…..
I like how GM has handled this with screen horizontal and they retain the buttons and knobs for things like HVAC while they also are on the screen.
As for trucks most mfg have offered the chrome version and the mono chrome version. GMC and Chevy have offered both for decades. Toyota did not just invent this.
As for truck sone have a right to not like them but that is what people like and want. They live with you so learn to live with them.
As for accidents much has happened with int increase in drug use. Legalization and illegal both are major problems on the highways. My local crime blotter is loaded with people under the influence of pot and other drugs crashing and being arrested for OUI and drug possession.
Even those high school girls who pulled out in front of the truck and were killed in MO. The driver was impaired by pot. They all died.
Even worse is how mild drugs are laced or tainted with others and so many are dying from overdoses. It is so sad that people have no self control and are paying the ultimate price. Worse is when they do it on the roads taking others with them. They like to claim it is an illness but it is selfishness.
The Chicago Police policy on pursuits is 13 pages long. Key sentence is that cops will not be punished for not pursuing a thug. Cannot blame the cops for not pursuing, because if they pursue and it goes wrong, those 13 pages of rules will ruin their career, or worse.
The tragic result last week was a carjacked BMW that was involved in many Chicago street holdups was located by the car’s GPS, but no pursuit was made once the car sped away from the cops, and the thugs then committed a violent holdup where the victim lost part of his leg from a gunshot, has his jaw wired shut from removing a bullet in his jaw, and is still in the ICU but off life support. Luckily the shooter is now in jail. Being a cop seems to be a no-win situation these days. God bless them.
One thing that really hurts the Tesla S is the dash. No styling and it looks cheap.
