Neat history with them too. Toyota bought a lot of old tech from GM, much of it is in the early FJs, improved and adapted, but there. Engines, transmissions, axles, a great leap for Toyota and GM figured it wouldn’t matter.

I remember these from when I was stationed at Sembach AB in Germany from 1988-90, and also at Al Minhad AB outside of Dubai during Desert Shield/Storm in 1990-91. I still see one every once in awhile that’s survived.
