24 years after landing in a ditch, this Buick Grand National is back to boosting

My husband, Geral, and I were always car fanatics. Early on, he loved reading about fast cars and dreaming of what he might own one day. He was a longtime NASCAR fan and enjoyed racing his 1980 Chevy Malibu on the dirt oval at Georgia's Senoia Raceway.

When I read this in the magazine I had two reactions. One of happiness to see an old family favorite and a Grand National, no less restored and being loved by the kids. The second reaction was sadness for the tragic loss of the husband. That was hard to read and I know harder for those immediately involved to live through. Time can heal all wounds and thankfully the restoration helped in some part in that healing.

I am sorry for your loss, Melissa. What a wonderful tribute!

I vividly remember the day my Grandfather passed. A truly loving man who’s wish it was for me to have his classic Buick.

It is more than just a car, rather a labor of love and memory!
