Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Indianapolis Motor Speedway officials have insisted that the 2020 Indianapolis 500—postponed from its traditional Memorial Day weekend date until August 23—will run with fans in attendance. Now they’ve made it official.
The 104th running of “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” will be held with spectators, but capacity will be limited to 50 percent. In a letter to Indy ticket holders, IMS President J. Douglas Boles said a comprehensive plan will be announced in the coming weeks.
