1979 Ford Bronco sells for $67,725, setting auction record for second-gen models

Back in March, a beautifully restored 1979 Ford Bronco sold on Bring a Trailer for $60,375, breaking the record for the highest auction price for a second-generation Bronco. That record didn't last long, because last week BaT sold another ’79—this one an unrestored survivor that commanded $67,725 including buyer's premium.

I started selling new Fords back in 1977 (and still am!) and remember what an improvement the '78 model was. I think there was like a 400% sales increase. It was a real boost to our sales as the other offerings were a bit weak.

My Dad just got rid of a '78 Highboy shortbed. I love the late 70s Ford trucks, but there is no way on God's green earth that I would pay that much for a second gen Bronco. Ever........

 

By the way, that's a great truck.
