1969 Mustang Mach 1
Bought this beauty little over a year ago from a collector who let it sit for 16 years. (Tires on it when I purchased were from 2003) Needless to say I make sure to enjoy driving it every chance I get!
I've owned my Eliminator for about 7 years, having bought it from the original owner in 2012. But it certainly wasn't a garage queen cream puff! He used to race it (it was hand-lettered on the passenger door when I got it), and got in several accidents with it too. The vintage bodywork is starting to show its age now, but it runs and drives, and has that "well loved" look that always gets attention.
It is a numbers-matching car and was mostly complete, as far as the expensive and rare parts go. I'm sure I'll restore it someday. For now I'm gathering the necessary parts and sheet metal, and just driving and enjoying it!
I take it to various local shows when I can, and try to get to Beaches Cruise-In on Wednesday evenings at Portland International Raceway a few times a summer. Hopefully we'll get some car shows in once the COVID lockdowns are lifted!
I also help track and document Eliminators for the Cougar Club of America and the Eliminator Registry. If you or someone you know has an Eliminator, please contact myself or the Eliminator Registry!
