Last year, my wife asked what I wanted for my upcoming 50th birthday.

Jokingly, I replied, "A '69 'Vette" expecting a quick "No, really?"

She said "Ok, start looking."

Found this one a few months later. According to the paperwork, it was assembled the day before I was born.

It was, indeed, a happy birthday.

1967 Firebird 400 numbers matching, lotsa factory options. 3 year (I work slower than I used to) total restoration to factory stock was finished in June 2019. Originally sold in Cincinnati, spent years in Tennessee, found it for sale beside the road just north of our house in Michigan - looking neglected, repainted white with black top but all there. Told my wife I wasn't looking for it, it found me. Not sure she believed me as it has happened a few times before. I have been a Pontiac nut since my first one - 70 TA that I bought new in 1970.

It has a total of 32 factory options , including rare (or at least uncommon) cruise control, disc brakes, headrests, folding rear seat, A/C, power windows, tilt wheel and much more. Somebody back in 1967 got carried away with the options list - they were only a couple of small items short of all that were possible on a single car. Takes a 2 page window sticker to list them all.

This is my first new car, 1967 Corvette, 427/390.  I was going to technical school in St. Louis in 66/67 when the 67 came out, I fell in love and had to have one. I ordered it in May from my local Chevy dealer that I worked for.  It was built the first production day of July.  When it came in, I prepped  and  cleaned it up after it came off of the car carrier. I brought it home July 10 1967.  I have all the original paper work from the dealer.  Both of my children came home from the hospital after they were born in the Corvette.  I had it in the Evolution display at the National Corvette Museum in September 1999 and won the Celebrity Choice Award. I was also interviewed by Dennis Gage of My Classic Car and was on the show in 2000. It’s hard to believe I’ve owned it almost 53 years.

1965 Mustang Fastback

This is the resurrection, I had a 65 that was hit by a drunk driver while cruising Route 66, so I just had to rebuild. 348 stroker, 4 wheel disc brakes, 5 speed, rack and pinion, coil over front suspension, center exit exhaust and much much more. The entire car outside of the paint being sprayed on was built in my garage at home. And it gets driven as much as possible. Currently in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada

@ddwhite What are your thoughts on the EFI swap?  Was it worth it?  Any problems you had with the install?

Cougar and galaxie.jpg

My '68 Cougar, and the '65 Galaxie in the background. Both are original 289 cars. Both still have the original drivelines, and both have Ivy Gold interiors. Also, both cars still wear their original seat material that is perfect. Both also have the original consoles.

The Cougar is a base model 289, c4 auto, factory air car. The Galaxie has the reclining passenger seat option. Also the Galaxie came from a friend whose father bought it from the original owner so the 45,000 miles on the odometer are both accurate and documented. I actually drove the Galaxie from Illinois to Georgia when I got it and the trip went without a miss, hiccup, or sputter. She just pulled along at highway speeds like a new car.

Nice indeed. I always liked the '66. My brother in law had a  red '63 that he foolishly sold.

It's really a LeMans!It's really a LeMans!455 from a '70 GTO Judge455 from a '70 GTO Judge

This is a Muscle Car "clone".  I took a '66 LeMans, and did a frame off build.  Changed the tail panel and lights, hood and grill, dash and badges.  It isn't a real GTO and I never tell anyone it is, but it's got every bit as much muscle as a Goat had in those days.  😎

Guitar74
Gearhead

That is one beautiful Pontiac. GTO or not!!! It wouldn't bother me a bit to have it as a LeMans. Reminds me of the GTO on Hollywood Knights.

DUB6
Technician

Well, that one was a '65 with a black vinyl roof, I think, but yeah, I get the similarity of looks.  Thanks for the kind words about the car.  It looks way better in photos than up close in person - but then again, the owner always knows where all the flaws are!

Guitar74
Gearhead

Yeah. The Knights car did have a black vinyl roof come to think of it. We ALL know where the bad places are. Still I like it.

Guitar74
Gearhead

I should have phrased that one a little differently. It sort of reads that we all know where the bad places on your car are. I meant we all know where all of the bad places on our cars are. Didn't quite read like I meant it.

DUB6
Technician

No, I totally knew what you meant!  And again, thanks for the compliments on the car.  We're starting to get some sunny days around here, and I'm gonna have to rub about 5 pounds of wax onto that thing so it'll shine "reel purdy" when taking it out.

Guitar74
Gearhead

I haven't driven the Cougar since I fixed the Headlight covers. I did take the Galaxie to work yesterday and today. Yesterday started out in the high 30s and ended up in the high 70s. Almost 80 today. I hope it sort of levels at this point.
