It doesn't look too difficult to install if you have the right tools, but I guess it depends on the specific vehicle the hook is gonna be installed on. It's functional, if this is a race car that will need to be towed out by the on-site tow truck when it spins out and dies/gets stuck in the grass. If this is just a street car, it really isn't that functional, as any tow truck can pull you to safety without needing it.
